Finally bought an RX8
After many months of looking and studying about various cars, I finally bought an RX8 Saturday. It's a 2004 winning blue, manual touring with a spoiler. What a blast. Brought it on a road trip up to my grandma's farm that nearly had my pregnant wife throwing up on the mountain roads. As I was going around one turn, I looked over to my right and saw a horse scratching its ear with its back leg.

What an awesome time I've had driving it this week. Drove it to my grandma's farm Monday with my wife. Took it out to Eureka Springs today. Wonderful fun in the mountains. Since I have no idea when the oil was last changed, I'll probably have it done this next week. What oil works best for a manual RX-8?
I have some photos I've been taking that I'll post once I'm back on a computer.

Oh boy. John, this has been a throughly argued, disputed, and discussed topic. There are so many different considerations when picking the oil that's right for you.
What I can tell you is to do some searching on the forum, and I'm sure you'll find what works best for you there. Just about anything you'll ever need can be found by searching the forums.

One Shot One Kill
we in this club prefer to hire a squirrel to do our oil, and it likes heavier ones. I personally recommend at least a 10W-30 at least. Now, i do not believe the oil matter as much as how you treat the car when it's cold, enjoy.
on second thought, whatever the previous owner was running, run that.

So, next question...
I was a member of the Porsche Club of America for a number of years. It was great to be able to make track events and auto crosses. Any chance there's any group in the Dallas/Fort Worth area other than SCCA? Maybe a Mazda, or RX-specific group? If not, who's interested in putting something together? I have access to some excellent track instructors from the PCA and BMWCCA, and know some track owners.
