Quieter Catback with a BHR Midpipe

So I just installed my new BHR Midpipe and it’s amazing. Had a guy ask me how he could get his BMW sound like that XD. Anyways, I go to work super early and I want to respect my neighbors the best I can at 6am. Right now I have some random eBay cat back (came with the car). Is there a muffler that is 1) lighter than stock and 2) still makes a good sound but is quieter than a cheap eBay muffler. The Catback did kinda drone which was slightly annoying when going up my hill of a driveway and if you stayed at a certain rpm.

Years ago I had one of those ebay catbacks, I had a local exhaust shop weld in some Magnaflow mufflers in place of the ebay ones. They also had some used exhaust tips that came off some other car (they were sitting on a shelf in the corner of the shop) that I picked up for $30 and had them weld on in place of the cheap ebay exhaust tips. Was cheaper in my case than a whole new exhaust and I loved it. Let me see if I can upload some videos of it to my youtube channel so you can hear what it was like. Its been 6-7 years since I had that exhaust and that exhaust is long gone so I don't have a part # for the Magnaflow mufflers unfortunately.

EDIT: added some pictures of the exhaust i had the shop make using the piping of the ebay exhaust to keep costs down by reusing the piping and only replacing the mufflers and tips.

Depending on where you are, you may be able to source a factory catback for almost nothing. The BHR midpipe wakes up the factory unit, and the pairing sounds great together. Obviously no weight savings, though.

definitely want the weight savings. Really want to track the car one day and eventually go nuts (to a degree) with it. I could even buy one from a junkyard! There are a few in some near me

that’s not a bad idea! I can weld it myself too once I can get a TIG machine. I could always buy one of those one and off mufflers too and weld those bad boiiissss in place!

I installed the TurboXS entire exhaust including Cat from the manifold back. I was very pleased with the sound, not too tinny and not too loud. I did not notice any increase in power. Fast forward 8 months. The exhaust is louder and I am guessing, based on fault code and extremely rich smell, that the Cat is burned out, if that is possible. I changed the O2 sensors, but I guess it's possible one of the new sensors is bad. Also, the gasket between the manifold and cat disintegrated and I replaced that.

Get exoticspeed R1-T (GT non-resonated) and you're good to go 👍
