Driving/riding reviews
I'd like all to post their impressions here (to get them all in one place). Perhaps this should also be a "sticky"?
Here's mine. I rode around in Canzoomer's car for several hours today as he tested it out (thoroughly). He almost made me carsick It has been posted that the RX-8 handles better than the 3rd gen. I can believe it, as it is very close! I have a 3rd gen. How to compare the two... well the RX-7 is perhaps prettier (a matter of personal opinion of course), has more torque, and is rougher on its passengers. The RX-8 is more comfortable, even in the back, much quieter, and is sneaky quick. I like the "new rotary technology"! The audio system is nice, the AC works very well. Hey, it's got cupholders! Front and rear! (RX-7s don't have them, which lead to us calling our passengers "cupholders"). The driver and front passenger legroom (side to side) is about the same as the 3rd gen, but it has more length. It also has more headroom. In the rear, there is lots of room (if the front seat occupier is not too stingy). Very comfortable seating front and rear. Long trips in my RX-7 can be a pain, but in the RX-8 it would be great. Trunk space. Hey, it has a trunk! It's quite large. Not sure if I would get the spare tire and loose space to it. The trunk lid opens to a vertical postion. Very nice. We RX-7 owners are used to so many compromises, this car is a revelation. Those of you with cars on order will not be disappointed! We only found one "glitch" which will probably work itself out with use - its a bit of a fight to get it into reverse. Pushing down and way over to the right is difficult.
Now, for a contest. Count how many rotor motifs (even "hidden" ones) are on and in the RX-8. They are everywhere!

I got mine with the spare option and was pleased at how much space was still left. Its just about 80% of the upper deck that's lost, you still have all the depth of the well.
It took me awhile to get the hang of reverse, but it comes easily now.
I'm finding I'm getting confused sometimes with 5th & 6th gear. I guess it's part of the short shifter that I don't know by feel yet when it's in 5th or did I just put it back into 3rd. I'm sure this will be corrected with experience, especially since I've not really used the top gears much yet.
