when you damage your own car? It's bad enough when someone else accidentally does it at a parking lot, but when you do it yourself, you just feel so stupid.

I pull up to this unfamilar parking lot and eye a parking spot. I try to gauge my parking by the person next to me's sideview mirrors then ... I hear a scccrraaapppeeee! Painful. Not good. I back up a little (unsccrraaappeee) and take a look at the damage: a 5 inch scratch on the bottom of my front appearance package where you can see black peeking underneath the titanium grey. Little stringy plastcs sticking out and all. I touch it and some of the paint chips rub on my fingers... like my own tit grey blood. Ow. I look at the car next to me and his front is smashed up on the curb like it was part of his car. I look at the curb which is high enough as it is but to make matters worse the parking spot dips down at the front end so the curb is even higher. I check out the curb and it's a battlefield. It's probably had dozens upon dozens of cars planted on it. Deep scratches and grooves aplenty. Different colors canvased like the a dark rainbow. The evil curb.. it was looking at me.. (haha it wanted to say).

been there did that. i scraped the plastic behind the rear wheel in october (don't ask how, much too embarrassing). my best advice is to get it fixed and then try to forget it ever happened!

I too have had the occasional stupid moment. Backed into a spot @ Blockbuster and apparently the curb was a little higher than I originally anticipated and scraped the S**t out of my muffler

With our cars being as short front to back as they are, i usually stop well short of any wheel stops, I am afraid of someone thinking it is an open spot, with all of these large vehicles around, swingin in and smashing the hell out of my car. Cause sometimes there is no choice but to park where you would rather not. We have plenty of room to spare.

Sorry to hear about that though, hope it is not too expensive to fix.

I know the feeling. I got small scratches on my windshield that drive me nuts. The first and only other ding was a small scuff in the rim thanks to a kind individual who left some bricks next to the curb.
