a/c gas recharge, does it make a huge difference?

After doing many tune-ups which costed me $300 from my local auto shop, the result of full inspection came as my a/c gas is low and needs to be recharged, '

and claimed that the a/c temperature is 54 fahrenheit. (there were other problems too, but not serious),
otherwise, it will damage my car(I cannot remember the exact parts is gonna be damaged).

They called $200(I know they are not lying because they have been rated #1 in my town for auto service in many websites and they were honest and kind),

so I said no thank you and went to Meineke, and it costed me $100 for a/c evacuation and recharge.

After the service, I drove and turned the a/c on...

seems like it did not made a huge difference, maybe just a little colder.

The question is, does recharging a/c gas does make a huge difference?

From what I have seen if your having to recharge your ac then there is probably a leak somewhere in the system. Unless for some other reason you decided to vent the ac out of your system.
