Do I Need TPMS's for 2nd set of rims
Good Morning all.
New RX8 owner here. Love it, but tend to drive way faster in it then my old truck. Also, nervous about the Cleveland Snow. I am thinking that snow tires should make this car track in the snow. The balance of the car, and the limitted slip dif, will hopefully keep me out of the ditches.
Anyway, I just got a 2nd set of 18' OEM rims for for the 08 for the winter tires. They don't have the tire pressure sensors.
Questions:
What will happen if I just have regular rubber valves? From what I have read, the sensors only transmit when pressure is high or low. So I am thinking that no sensors would be the same as senores in tires with correct pressure, with no transmition telling the car something is wrong. Is that right? The last thing I want is a beep or a TP light on all the time...
Also, I am assuming that the OEMs will take a rubber valve. do you know if it will?
Thanks Much. Take car, Guys and Galls. Doug.

I wouldn't bother with the expense of TPMS for the 2nd set. The tire pressure idiot light WILL remain lit all Winter (the opposite of what you cite; since no pressure signal is received). Just check your tire pressure often, as we always do, and you'll be fine.

don't need the TPMS, not worth spending the $$$ on a 2nd set of tires.
