Decent ATX 0-60 time?

Ok so I got my plugs taken care of, still have original ignition coils and I'm completely stock.

My 0-60 seems to be a good bit better now. Before it was like 9-10 it seemed. Give me your opinions guys...

The A/T 0-60 is around 8sec and the M/T is around 6sec. Yes the altitude will hurt yours.

Yes the altitude will hurt you a lot. A few years ago I went to big bear, about 7000 feet, and I lost so much power it was pathetic.

On a side note, force induction cars don't loose nearly as much power. My buddy made that very clear when we were there in his WRX.

I'm sorry for 7500 being pathetic lol! Would I be doing it in 7 and a 15.0-15.8 quarter if I was at sea level? I'm just really curious what the AT is capable of without F/I. I can't wait until I have money to buy Mazdamaniacs AccessPort.

No such thing as a decent 0-60 for an auto RX8. Trick question.

Keep in mind that you have a 6 speed, 6 port auto, while he has a 4 speed, 4 port. Thats a 20 HP difference (212 to 192 rated flywheel HP)

A 6 speeds, 6 ports auto can really do a 6-7 sec 0-60 run? Getting one soon and i'll be happy if it can do sub 7 sec. Mazda brochure state 8.4 sec though.

well if my car right now can do it in 8 at this elevation I guarantee the 6 port AT could do it sub 7 at sea level.

i count 11 seconds for that 0-60 run. which might be 8 seconds at sea level. i dont really know. a 6speed-6port auto might do 7 seconds, i dunno, maybe if you put a higher stall gear in there. the problem is that with autos you can only brake-launch at 2000rpm. (not in the power band at all.) with the manuals you can launch at 4.5k-5k (right at the start of the powerband) and you can really launch.

i vote for slapping a greddy on that bish!

my friends 06 rx8 (at) ran decent 0-60 times. since his was under warranty with a decent dealership. he did neutral drops all the time without worry. after 2 years of owning it, he only had to replace transmission once, (because it was shifting slow)

7k rpm neutral drops with sticky tires.

sounds very damagin, but it worked for him :/

im going to call bullshit on that until you post a video of that.

how do you neutral slam it at 7k rpm?

the transmission just wont shift into first at that high rpm.

not to mention, a 7k rpm drop to the tires would result in a burn out unless he had r-comps or drag radials. "sticky" tires wouldnt cut it, only "race tires."

That's cuz it was a ATX, not just an AT.

ATX = Automatic Xtreme!!

He can drop it at 9,500RPM if he felt like it, the sticky tires work fine because the way the ATX axels shift power to the rear enables the shock absorbers to act as energy coils, so once the car starts rolling off that 9500RPM drop the shock absorbers push all that energy out to the tires and BAM the car just screams to 60mph to 100mph to 160mph and beyond. It's quite unstoppable if you have an ATX, except that pesky transmission problem where sometimes it makes you shift slow because you have such an increased power band the ECU doesn't want to shift.

i've seen it from the outside, and from the inside.

in neutral he revs it to red line sometimes more, and just moves the shifter over to d.

with more than the driver in the car, he doesn't make any other sound than just a chirp

with just the driver, he'll squeal for 3-4 secs, give or take. he was a rich kid with good connections to the dealership. he didn't care if the tranny was gonna drop. and he said it wouldn't have anyways, it was designed for abuse. thats his word, not mine. and he claims his tires were 300 bucks per.

i don't remember if tcs/dcs was on or off.

Technically he would move the shifter "down" to "D", not over. $300/tire sound like what I paid for my PS/2s. Those are not stickies or race tires.

I find this hilarious though, keep it coming!

i don't own an rx8 my self, just saying what i recall. and for sure it was less than 7 seconds. our friends tundra will do 0-60 in mid 7's and the rx8 pulled away very very easily after multiple attempts (abandoned road near his uncles ranch)
