"Quad coupe" is a marketing term coined by Saturn for their Ion 2+2 coupe (as oposed to the 4 door Ion sedan) which boasts a similar door design to the RX-8's "Freestyle Doors"
It has been since adopted as a generic body style term term for coupe style cars that have small reversed hinged secondary doors to facilitate access to the rear seats. (kind of like using "Rollerblades" as a generic term for in-line skates)
