I've heard people talk about putting computer chips in their cars to make them faster. Is this true and if so does the RX8 have one and does it work on both trans?

Go to the vendors forum and look at the Canzoomer section. It isn't a chip (which might be detected by the dealer and would void your warranty) but it is a piggyback ECU. Much better in my opinion.
