I am having an annoying clicking sound whenever I take my foot OFF the accelerator. It sounds electric in nature, but because the gas pedal assembly makes lots of other squeaks when I move it around, I don't think it is.
The dealer has replaced the whole unit once, and the problem went away for about a month, now it's back again.
The dealer has no ideas, and has consulted with Mazda. Since I have heard nothing back, I assume they don't know what to do, either.
Anyone seen this, and if so, what was it?
Thanks!

Mine does it too. I think it's some sort or relay for the drive-by-wire. Probably along the same lines as the click you hear under your dash on some cars when switching to the high beams...

Sounds like nothing to worry about. I think mine does the same. You just need to turn the tunes up louder!! No, seriously..try a different dealer if it is drving you crazy.

Yeah, I know it's probably nothing major, but I also know it's not normal since it didn't start until about 20K or so. It does become a little annoying when you drive 100 miles a day, a lot of it in stop n go...

Take you RX-8 to Auto Zone and they will check it for free.
But it never did it for the first 20K miles, and it quit for awhile after I got a new assembly installed. And it does it when the car is turned off. It's a mechanical click, not an electrical one, though that's what it sounds like....
