Child seats

Child seats
Hello
I've just joined this forum and already learnt a lot about the RX8. Currently I am trying to decide between the RX8 and an EVO9.
Have any members used child car seats in the back of an RX8 for 3 or 4 year olds? How have they found the access for things like doing up the belt for your kid? Is there enough space there? Do the suicide doors work well with kids?
Anything else?
Thanks in advance for your help

I have a 3 year old. She is real easy to get in and out with the doors designed the way they are. Car seat fits fine also, but don't use one with a flat bottom base, it doesn't sit in the seat well.
Two other points though...
1. Watch where your kids hands are when you close the rear door. The hinges are literally right next to the car seat (not behind like in a normal door setup). Kids can put their hands up in the door jam quickly while you are pushing the door shut. I had a very close call...ONCE!!!
2. Also when I got my 06, I tried to put the car seat in awhile after the purchase and the rear seat belts didn't have the locking mechanism. Warranty covered it...and it was probably an isolated incident on the assembly line because i have not heard of any one else with the problem...But an inconvenience after the fact, so check that the rear belts make the "Ratchet" sound when they retract from fully extended, just to make sure!

Also search using keywords like "kid", "kids", "carseat", "car-seat", etc.
To summarize my personal experience, I have 11, 9 and 3 year old daughters. The suicide doors work better than any other car I've ever driven (nothing beats the big sliding doors and high seats of a minivan for loading/unloading kids and buckling into carseats, but clearly I prefer to drive something sportier. )
Seriously, read those two links I posted, then search back further in time. You'll be surprised how many parents there are on the forum.

3yr old and 1 year old. Bought the 8 specifically for its kid friendlyness (doors and back seat room in a coupe shape). Check the threads, lots of good info. I did have a bitch of a time getting the LATCH strap connected when I moved my daughter from rear to forward facing. Not taking that thing out until she is in a booster.

It's fairly kid friendly. Not as good as, say, a Mazda5, or an Odyssey. You'll be able to get most seats in and out without much work. However, if you have a tight garage, realize that you have to get the front doors open before you can open the rears, and even then, you have to get the kid, you, and the seat in the same gap to fit everything in.

All leather.....
Don't forget to buy one that will meet the high standard of your interior....
You wouldn't want one that looked like crap
Voici - the Eddie Bauer Leather edition, with Latch system connectors, fits well. (This is the test fitting session, he's playing with his Ducky, just like Dad!)

Got mine so my 2 and 4 year old could ride along. They love it almost as much and me and mommy do! Very easy to put them in snd get on the road. The only thing issing is the automatic seat slider. I had a 2000 Eclipse GT befoer the RX, and when you pulled the lever for teh passenger seat, it popped up and then teh base slid forward all in one motion. That's the only thing that could make this car better with kids!

Don't let your kids grab the front seat belts and buckle them into the rear recepticles. Mine haven't done this "yet", but I hear the seat belts won't come undone if it happens and it requires a trip to the dealer. Not a problem with a car seat, but when they go to a booster and start buckling themselves in..."Time for a training video on seat belt use!"
