Car Wont Start

I have a 54 plate, my problem being that when i go on any journey whether long or short, once I stop and attempt to re start it, it does not. I make acouple of attempts but stop due to the flooding aspect!!!!!!!

After around 20 minutes it re starts. This can be quite annoying when refueling! This problem does not happen for a few weeks after a service but then slowly creeps back. Has anyone any ideas or solutions?

Many thanks
Daz B

Sounds like the motors going and loosing compression when it's hot. Does it idle when it's hot or want to stall easily?

Try premixing. It'll buy you a few thousand miles before the motor goes.

More info about your car would be helpful...i.e. year, mileage, mods, etc.

Regardless, take a few minutes of your time to read this very informative post: Starting Issues? START HERE. Post in that thread, you might find an answer there.

It's a 192 1.3 coupe, around 67,000 miles. No modifications. As I said, it will start first thing but even if I drive some distance it can be a problem to start. When idle it's not looking to stall at all and there are no issues when it's driving. It just sounds like its just not firing enough and is almost there, ready to start but it does not. If I leave it for around 15-20 minutes it normally starts. Thanks for your help guys, hope this additional info assist you to assist me.

go get a compression test done and see if you have any issues. If not then start changing coils and plugs and so on

A similar thing happened to me. I found out it was caused by the electric starter going bad. My car would do exactly what you're talking about, then the problem would go away for a few weeks and come back again. I drove the 8 across country because I was moving, and in South Dakota, It finally broke completely. So just be careful don't go out on any big drives and get stranded. Get your starter checked out, that is likely your problem. Get back to us when you figure out if that's the case, it's useful to know if the 8 has recurring issues so people can come here and get help (and possibly petition a recall from mazda)
