This car continues to astound me!

We all know that once you drive an RX-8 you long for only it after that. That explains why I now own my SECOND. lol

I bought my current RX-8 back in February. It's a 2004 that had 30,000 miles on it and I picked it up for $10,500. RX-8's aren't a very common car for sale here in Kansas, and when they are they are pretty beat. This made this car extremely unique due to the fact that outside of a couple of scratches it looked flawless inside and out. Even better the engine bay was LITTERED with TSB/recall stickers. That just doesn't happen here.

Once I picked up the car I immediately swapped out the plugs, coils, plug wires, battery, and installed the upgraded starter. Due to the age of the car and the fact that it wasn't driven a lot I was concerned with the engine so I took it to a dyno day to see what it would put down. 190whp, and the graph looked FLAWLESS the entire way across. I was amazed!

It's been extremely hot lately and as a result the car had a hiccup the other day and took a few seconds longer to start than it normally does. I decided to do the Zoom Zoom cleaner as a result. Because of the age I expected a lot of carbon and a lot of smoke, but what I got was two puffs when I revved the car and that was it. I followed the DIY perfectly (15 seconds of spraying into each port 2x, piping hot engine that had just taken a 30 minute beating, an hour of waiting, etc.) so I know it wasn't a mistake I made. I'm amazed again!

The stigma on this board is to avoid an '04 as often as you can. Needless to say I've been sucked into that stigma and figured my car wouldn't be as healthy as a newer one. I couldn't be more wrong. It runs flawlessly and has an original engine that is extremely healthy. I love it! My first one had a lot of problems so it's nice to have a much better experience the second time around.

Lucky #2!

I hear a lot of horor stories about our cars but I've been riding strong for over a year now. Started with 65K and now have 77K. Only issue so far has been a heatshield rattle.... Check your oil every other fill up and keep the pluggs fresh and this car might as welll be a Honda

04 with all tsb/recalls done, and running strong other than regular maintenance. I might be going through a cat though.

Don't you have a 20B in there? . Entirely different emissions and drivetrain alone!
