TX Can I get your Opinion? *insurance questions*

Hey guys whats up, im not new here, and i don't post much because everything's easily accessible and it would be pointless to open threads for things I usually need. But i actually need an opinion here; yesterday parked at my friends apartment complex, I woke up in the morning to find that some moron backed into me and left me nothing. Here's the deal, I know off top my deductible is 1000 (switched from 500 to save money since I never filed a claim in my driving career), would it be worth it to pay the 1000? If i do would they probably just fix the damaged bumper or get a whole new one? How does that process work? I also dont want my stupid premium going up (allstate does that) just for being hit while parked. The last thing I will ask you guys, Ive been wanting to add an appearance package im guessing this will be the best time to get a body kit and just have it fitted and painted instead of paying a stupid 1000 deductible; im looking at the buddy club kit anyone seen a VR with it id like to see it. Also ive been checking the for sale threads but if anyone around houston or san antonio is parting with any body kits im interested to take a look.

Pics attached of my GT VR and the damaged bumper.

Thanks in advance.

They will heat that up and pop it out. If the paint doesn't spider it should be fine. Either way it doesn't need to be replaced. Unless there is unseen damage not obvious in the pics.

Thanks for the quick reply. I had no idea it would be that simple. Feeling a little bit better now man. Also, no other damage what you see is what you get. Thanks again man!

Yeah if anything it will need a respray of the bumper if the paint spider cracks and the exhaust shroud will need replacing due to cracked tabs.

well, you could get a couple estimates and see where you are vs the deductible, but it does look like you could pop it back out.

if it needs the exhaust finisher thing, those are cheap, under $70

yeah im actually going to get an estimate today in a bit. Ive decided im not even going to get the insurance involved. There's no way fixing this should be over 5 or 600 bucks a friend of mine said that owns a body shop in another state. For that exhaust part ill browse mazmart or rotaryfx to see who has it and ill buy it myself to have it ready for the shop. Again, thanks guys!

Bumper

A heat gun from the back side or as close as you can get to the back side will heat the plastic up and it will pop out itself. Dont get too close or the paint will discolor. Hair dryer will work just takes a heck of a lot longer. So will leaving it in the sun on a hot day.

Yeah, good idea about not getting the insurance involved. Not worth it for something like that. They will increase your premium - most companies do anyway. and the more "smaller" claims you submit, the higher it goes.

You might be able to do a jack/ghetto job on that piece of plastic by the exhaust. I replaced mine once, and then soon after that I hit one of those parking lot concrete dividers and ripped the two of the plastic clips. So it separated from the bumper at the corner, very similar looking to yours.

I didn't feel like paying another 60 bux for a new one. Instead, I just went under there with a couple of cable ties, tied it up pretty good and put it back together. Looks like new
