Called a mazda specialty shop

Ok, so my car is making some strange noise when i get on the throttle. It sounds like beer cans crushing and comes from the passanger side of the car. I called a specialty shop and the owner told me to drive the car hard and look under it to see if the cat was glowing red. Well i did and guess what, the thing is GLOWING bright red after driving the car hard. how do i tell the dealer to fix it, when they already did that reflash on the PCM and told me the CAT is fine???

I don't think you tell the dealer to fix something that isn't a problem. The catalytic converter, being a part of the exhaust, will get red hot during hard driving. Exhaust gasses are hot, there's not much of a way around it.

It was interesting to open the hood on my old '99 Passat 1.8T after a hard drive after dark and see the turbo and cat glowing a nice crimson red.

Oh, and do a search for "marbles" to get more info on the sound that you are hearing.

Sounds like the "cat" has a restriction, failed internally. I would talk to the dealer about it.
What have you got to lose?

The cat should not be glowing red. I have lifted the car at the track after hard runs and have never seen my cat glowing.

i have 700 miles on the car and i use 93 octane gas. This happens exactly at 6k rpm and gets louder to redline. Buncha bullshit if u ask me. This is an 06, you would think that by now they would have fixed all this crap with these cars.

My cat glows red after he lies down next to the fireplace for an hour or so.

Or was this not the pet forum?
