Thread Resurrection

I searched, so instead of starting a new one, I'll post here.
My A.C. does not blow cold during hard acceleration when the temp is in the 90s, works fine otherwise.
I think my problem is typical of a loose belt, but it doesn't feel loose.
Does anyone know if this is common with an 8?
I honestly don't remember if it did it the last 2 summers.

Is it simply hard acceleration or WOT? I am not sure what the cut off is for the compressor, but most cars shut down the compressor under WOT. If it's not really hot out, you may not notice the shut down as it only last as long as your at WOT. As the AC in the 8 could use some improvement anyway, shutting down for a few seconds may be noticeable as the temps increase. If it works fine otherwise I would not be to concerned about it. If you don't know how to check if your refrigerant levels are where they are supposed to be, I would have that checked first.

Thanks k.
Yeah, WOT. I assumed it was ok since it does work fine otherwise, but it's reassuring to know why.
Appreciate the info.

I am kinda in the same boat.
My AC does not blow ice cold air when idle.
If I rev up to 2000 rpm the air gets ice cold.
This happens regardless moving or stopped so it's not the fans.

It's probably not this, but my A/C was not blowing cold air a few weeks ago. Turned out I had the the vent "mode selection" turned to the 'floor' setting rather 'upper vent'! Just thought I'd mention as a problem/solution easy to not think of.

Yeah, also the 'fresh' or outside air mode can suck hot air from the engine. I usually leave mine on the 'recirculate' mode.

I wish the display was brighter.
That's probably my biggest gripe about it.
Can't read it with sunglasses on or when glare is on it.

I think you just explained why my AC gets colder when I hit the methanol switch.

Theres a diy on here to fix it but unless you have some good skills to start pulling that system apart, Id just keep the display on the a/c temp and manually do it
Where do I go to the DIY I really want to try to do it manually

The post you replied to says how to do it manually.

Mine's been jacked up for 6 years, I just fiddle with it until it's where I want it.
As long as I can do it that way I'm not 'fixing' it.

You turn the temperature ****, it goes up to 16 (hot).
If it never moves then it has to be repaired or replaced.

If you see the numbers change and stay where you put it, then it's good.
0 is cold, 16 is hot.
Turn it gradually, if you can stop on any given number and it doesn't fluctuate or cut in and out or skip numbers, then your board is good and you have other issues.
