Hi everyone. I just found a 2004 RX8 GT with 82k miles for $8000. This car looks awesome and really do want it. My only doubt is that these cars seem pretty "high maintenance". I already have an old Jeep that needs constant attention. I want to use this as my daily driver. Is this a practical car for me or am I going to be spending a ton in repair bills. I have done some research and see a lot of complaints about faulty engines needing to be replaced. The reliability is a major concern for me. Also, was the "Block" warranty extended to 100k? Like I said, I want it, but if it turns out to be a lemon, my wife will get full rights to the "I told you so" speech until I get rid of it. Thanks for any input...

You want to buy a six year old sports car with over 80,000 miles, and you wonder if you're being practical? And you're worried about giving your wife an opportunity to say "I told you so?"

It just depends how bored you are.

if the car is sound, it's a good deal, if not it's a headache. i would personally get something a little newer if you have the means though.
this will take less maintenance then the old jeep, once you are past the initial shock

Even for that mileage, that price seems a little low. Most I've seen advertised with between 80-100k usually go between 9-10k. If the car looks to be in great shape, I'd go for it...maybe throw in some new plugs and coils and you should be ready to go. Also keep in mind the engine is under warranty until 100k.
Thanks for your responses. I think I'll go for it. I've loved these cars since they came out. I would love to find one with lower milage, but that's not in the budget. The car looks great, with a clean Carfax. I'll let you know how it turns out.
yeah 8k is not that bad, and eventually if the engine is bad you still got the SSSp77 warranty, but then again be carefull with the mods on that RX8 for which the dealer can void the warranty and you'll end up with your wife screaming "told you so"
