after asking around to no avail, (and i DID do a forum search but i couldn't find the info i was looking for), i'm going to post my question.

I notice fascia parts for the 8 will say "03-08" or "09+" does this mean you cannot swap some of the body parts ie bumper or diffusers/skirts from the new models to the older ones? I have access to a parts and maintenance database as well as having asked at the dealership, but no one seems to know...maybe there is a body width difference?

was the same from '04-'08 and can be swapped between years. the only thing that you may want to take note of would be the color b/c even the grays were different color codes but if you're painting anyway, swap away.

hmm. yeah i noticed about the color codes, but thank you for that clarification. when you say "was the same from '04-'08 can be swapped", i assume you mean between 2004 and 2008 the parts are interchangeable. i was pretty sure about that, but what about using some of the parts off the 2009 or 2010? i know the body has differences, but i mean is the chassis wider or longer? i realize i wasnt entirely clear. sorry.

i think it depends on what you are swapping, but i don't think many fits.

the front end (fenders,bumper,headlights) of 09-10 can bolt up to older models but thats if your swapping the whole front and the rear is just taillight and bumper is the only difference, so it is possible to swap

hrm. thanks all for the help...my internet is now down but i was able to finish updating my database...and found the answer. the answer is "with enough money..."

unfortunately there are about 10x the parts for the 09+ compared to the 04-08 models....in order to mount properly the whole front end and have everything on the Canadian R3 model working and fit properly, i would have to order quite a few structural pieces and cut and weld up basically a new front subframe, rad cradle and mounting/anchor points for the reinforcing bumper.

thanks anyway for the help...looks like i have work to plan out! haha
