Best way to sell a car

Hi folks,

I am going to be selling my 8 in January and would like to know what the consensus is on best ways to sell a used car. I don't have a lot of free time to deal with it. I know I can post it on the 'net' but what works best for someone who has a few months to sell but not a lot of time to dedicate to doing it? Thanks,

Craig

it'll be harder since you'll be in the middle of the winter trying to sell a RWD car but i would try autotrader, craigslist, and here.

and in terms of convenience, trading in would be the best best, but you'll lose about 2-3000 in value compared to selling it private, you have to decide if that 2-3000 is worth the extra work/time of selling the car yourself

Everything sells at it's selling price. Sound simple? Everyone seems to forget that when trying to sell.

Springtime - March-May bring the highest prices for sports type cars. November-December the lowest.

The fastest way to sell is probably Ebay, but generally actual selling prices are about 5-8% lower then local newspapers in a metro area will bring.

Peppering the web with ads is easy and usually free, but lacks a target. Of the dozen or so RX8 owners I've met, few are aware of this forum, none of them looked here before they bought their cars, although there are a few folks who do come here before buying.

Another option is trading it in at Carmax. They tend to offer wholesale or just above on a decent car.

Hank, Ordering an '07 C6 6M Z51 Coupe tomorrow night. I will do track days but maybe not as many as I might have with the 8. Craig

Selling is a pain in the ***, but you may get lucky enough to find some geezer or ignorant kid who will give you more for the 8 than you actually deserve. Rare, but it happened to someone on this forum and his story touched my heart.

I'm in for the long haul with this baby though. No selling for me. I'll own this car till it stops running. Good luck

Interesting perspective you have. How much do I deserve?

The market and my patience will decide that.

I have my car listed here, cars.com, autotrader.com and craigslist. Very very few inquiries compared to when I sold my RSX. If you don't have the time or patience, CarMax is your best bet. My car will most likely go there.

Autotrader and Cars.com.......

Granted, you may not have the capability. But I made a simple, aethetic web site listing all sundry and needed details, pics, contact links, relevant info, etc and posted THAT URL at autotrader and cars.com. Sold my Miata in literally one day, BAM!!

Carmax will be your car on the spot but be prepared to be raped............

Hard to sell when dealers keep droping prices.

Not a good time after Christmas. Maybe Easter will be better.
