Bad Luck in the R3

Driving to work today. While crossing this big intersection, a car turned into me trying to go across three lanes to go to the left turn lane after making a right turn on my right.
So there it is. The cherry is popped.

First look, dented fender and scratched up bumper

While on my way to work, I found the car is pulling slightly to the left if I let go the steering wheel. So I took a closer look at the wheel and found the wheel got hit too.

She was so perfect...

suxors man

at least it wasn't some un-insured asshat i guess.

You're safe and the damage is pretty minor realistically.

Why is it going to take several weeks to get it taken care of?

First thing I would do is take it to an alignment shop, have them look under the car for any damaged parts, and if they don't see any, have them try to get the alignment perfect.

If it aligns perfectly, the car is 100% drivable.
Save the receipt, and hand that over to their insurance company when claims time comes.

As for the body damage, drop it off at the shop, have them inspect the damage, order the parts, and keep driving it until the part are available. When they come in, drop off car, have them tear the car apart, look for additional damages, fine any additional claims, and then you get your car back.

No reason that I can see to be without your car for a long period of time that I can see.

BC.

Ohh man that sucks!

Definitely glad that it was a doctor driving a nice car VS some uninsured douche-face.

Why bother with all of that when the car can just be sitting in wait for repairs while he drives around a rental which I am sure the insurance claim covers.

We have "speed platforms" here at work and people do that .... looks rediculous when you see the driver lose his *** of his seat, back end of the car drops down hard, muffler grazes the pavement .... all because you want to get to your parking spot 1 minute faster.

That really sucks.

I do like Bladecutters idea of taking it in to get the alignment checked before it go the body shop.
That way you know the how far out of spec it is. then after you get it back from the body shop have the same shop recheck it.
Don’t let them do an alignment to compensate for a bent rack mount.

Save your old parts.

You know, a good wheel repair place like this one - http://www.wheelcollision.com/ - can absolutely repair that damage good as new. I'm serious; there will be no difference between your fixed wheel and a new one. Costs way less than a new wheel.

Luckily it wasn't major damage and you're both okay.

I feel for you. I have the same car and color with the same damage on the other side. A tractor trailer picked up a very large chain off the interstate and sluing it into my bumper, headlamp and fender. My dent in the fender isn't as bad but it still makes me sick.

I hear ya. Same thing on my R3. Luckily the old drunk bat missed my rims (which I hear are $1,000 each). Dealership here has an awesome body shop and I got it fixed with no cost to me. I even got a rental that I trashed for 4 days.
