hey grim, how did you put the pic in your post instead of just linking to it?
in answer to your question-those are pretty nice rims and they seem to work well with the car but might be a little too shiny.although that could be the lighting...
I think its the lighting in that particular picture. If you subscribe to R&T, there are several pictures of this version of the RX-8, and in it the rims don't appear that shiney. (Or you can do a Google image search on "RX-8".) Anyway, rather than the finish of the wheel, its the style itself I like. Just a bit cleaner than the yellow version, plus I like the fact that the wheel spokes taper towards the rim, rather than "flare" like the other car. Makes them look lighter.
Here is a different pic under different lighting:
If you are inserting a picture that is hosted elsewhere on the web, when you post a topic/reply, you'll notice a "IMG" button at the top. Click that, and put in the web address in the dialogue box that pops up.
If you want to insert a pic from your hard drive, you've first got to upload it in the traditional way ("attach file"). After you are done your reply or whatever and its posted, click on the file attachment you've just created. The pic will pop up in a seperate window. Copy the web address of that pop-up window, then go back and edit your post that you just made. Hit the "IMG" button and paste the web address you just copied. Note that this is a convoluted way of doing things, and there is probably a more efficient way to do it, but I don't know about it!
To me, they look the same, except for some that have been either polished, or lit differently.
I've seen pictures of a yellow car with polished rims, and one (might have been the same one) with brushed rims, but still same basic shape and style as each other, and the red one above.

They are definately different rims than the yellow car (although not a huge difference). They are also 19" rims and the yellow car is 18", but I digress.
Ok, looks like I'm in the minority! (For the record, I like Ferrari's from the 1980's :D )
heh heh heh!! i LOVE them!! they look like super-sized baloney slicers from (my favourite) the GTU or TURBO II FC3S's from the (guess when... ) 1980's!! yay retro!! i too have a soft spot for Ferraris, circa squarer-than-square decade, like the F40...
hmm... you know?? i think i'd like even some MULTI-PEICE rims!! HOW MUCH MORE 80's COULD YOU GET??? AHAHAHAHA!! :D
ugh... really doesen't matter to me, im probaby going to end up swapping em out for three spokes maybe, since i think they look the best on an rx7. But i dunno about the rx8.... we'll have to see..
I like the rims on the yellow version better, but its hard to tell from pictures. I saw a RX-Evolv, maybe a 8 prototype, it was the orange one at the New York auto show 2 years ago, i liked the rims on that, but they were also 18's. Who knows what rims will be availible on the production RX-8. I like Mazda rims in general though.
1991 Mazda RX-7 NA (White/Dk Blue Cloth)
2002 Mazda Protege 5 (Yellow/Black+Grey Cloth)
2006 Mazda RX-8 (I might be able to get one by then)
2010 Mazda RX-7 4th Gen (we can all hope)
