Anybody elses shifter shake a little?

Hey guys, well tommorow will be 7 days that I own my Titanium beauty. You guys on this forum are great! You guys have so much knowledge and I think it helps prospective buyers a lot!

That said, my shifter (6speed) at idle shakes a little. Is that normal or should i get it checked out? Thanks guys!

Yes...it is not uncommon for the RX-8 shifter to experience some shaking while in idle. Many folks here have exeperienced the same thing. No problems....

It vibrates because the lever goes directly into the transmission and not isolated by rods or cables like the AT. I think it is just part of the aura of the sports car feel.

My friend asked me the same thing and I felt a little ashamed when he made fun of me. He owns a Toyota Celica GT-S limited panasonic/TRD edition and says his never shakes. Glad to know I am not the only one.

Every manual car I've ever driven has a stick that shakes slightly.

The Celica won't exhibit the shake like the 8 because the shifter mechanisim is mounted to the chassis and controls the tranny thru cables.

Just remember if you shake your shifter more than twice, you're playing with it!!!

It's fine. Don't worry about it. (the car's shifter!)

To make sure that it is indeed the shifter that's shaking, get yourself checked out for Parkinson's first.
