I came home this morning to find a little box on my porch with Mazda graphics on it. I thought it was going to be advertising but it was a little bottle of Galaxy Gray paint for my '06 RX-8 that I bought in August. Cool! Honda didn't do that for my wife's CRV.

I didn't. To add insult to injury, when I tried to buy some the dealer didn't have any in stock. They had to special order it, and I'll need to take another trek to pick it up when it comes in.
In the meantime, I've got to be very careful to not get any scratches.

LOL... after paying $20 or $30+ thousand for a new car, does a free $10 bottle of touch-up paint REALLY bring that much excitement & joy? <LOL> no wonder Mazda treats us [8 owners] like 3rd rate step children... we are too easy to fool or too freaking stupid... <LOL> ironically, with the lousy, soft quality of paint this car has, you WILL be needing lotsa of those $10 bottles- esp on the front bumper and hood from all the rock chips... and, that doesn't include the complimentary scratches & dings the dealer will be putting on your car when u bring it in for service. (they are million miles apart from lexus or bmw when it comes to handling your car.) and, no. i'm not soured by the entire thing. not a bit...
I huffed the bottle immediately and drove to a rave.
No. I ordered a touchup pen a month ago for my brilliant black. They called and said it had arrived at the dealer. I'll pick it up in two months when my one year service is due.
Why are dealers so keen to keep in touch when there is money to be made?
Your right about the soft crappy paint and also the dealer mechanics driving the car around the shop. Took my 05 in for Mazda post sale check up, got it back with a nice chip off the front bumper(Our mechanics would never do that - right)
no free touch up paint here. ordered it 2 weeks after i bought the car, was told it would arrive in 2 weeks ( already got a rock chip after week 1.. ouchh). then finally got it 6 weeks later.
The Salesman also said he "mailed me a bottle of red wine". its been 5 months.... curse
not that anyone is missing much. The VR touch up paint is SOOO thin (because of the metallic mix) that it does a rather inadeaquate job of covering chips. Even after 5 coats, you can STILL see the base color of the hood through the red "tint" that it's entails.
I've got 2 other cars that i've touched up, and neither of their touch-up has been this ineffective.
Last Saturday I ordered some touch-up. Yesterday the dealer called to say it was in. I'll pick it up tomorrow. (Had to pre-pay on the order.)
Today my gift bottle came. Who says the universe is random?
Anyone know if 32 (what came from Mazda today) is the same as 32S (what is says on the car)?
Ken
32 is the same as 32S. I bought a bottle the first week I got my car as backup just in case. I also installed a clearbra in a moment of splurging. So far I have been extremely pleased with the protection offered by the clearbra.
I didn't get jack! (yet) still waiting...going on 3 months! I remember when I bought my mazda6 I got the paint bottle the same month I bought the car.
Come to think of it...when I bought my 6 I got a package from mazda saying congrats and also sending me accessory catalogs. There was also info on the 24 hr roadside assistance program.
when I bought my 8 all i got so far was a recall notice....didn't even get the extended warranty info for the 06's. I guess they just wanna save postage by putting that 'welcome/how to de-choke your engine dvd' in your glovebox when you buy the car.
