Aluminum Gas Door...There a need?

Ok...I just recently bought a new 2006 RX-8 today. I was wondering if there really is a need for, "Aluminum Gas Door". Or is this item just to make your car more beautiful then it already is? hehe thnx.

It will lighten the car there by giving you more horse power which in turn gives you better gas milage, allowing you more time to do other things besides open up the gas lid and filling your car.

Wink Ricey.....

I got it, in keeping with my whole "Rice" motif.....

I actually put a spring inside the hinge, so when you push the lever, it springs wide open, not just a 1/2" pop.

....and I like it!

It improves fluid aerodynamics and lessens curb weight, making your car .003 seconds faster in the quarter mile.

It's science.

I had one but took it off.

- Heavier than the stock lid.

- Kept getting loose and rattling.

there is no need and it looks totally out of place on a RX-8, IMO... the last thing I want to do is draw attention to the gas door

Neither do I, but i've had quite a few customers who've put them on. One gentleman put it on both his RX-8 and his Miata (with the electric top). It's not my cup of tea, but they're his cars and on the miata it isn't bad at all, especially if you get the matte finish instead of the chrome one.

As jeremy clarkson says "most north american's havn't grown out of chrome like the rest of the world. "

Acutally it does give you a +5 to your horse power. It also gives you Chrome Rage which gives you +35 HP for 5 mins. It has a cool down time of 30 seconds......... Okay i need to lay off the WoW

If I didn't know how to turn off the fog lights, I would have need of the aluminum door.
