9000 RPMs to move car!! ;-)

Alright, gotta replace the clutch.

This is what I was looking at: (Centerforce Stage 2)
http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/pric...s/part/Stage_2

How much would installation be around, and is the only part I need?

Since I've always installed all of my own parts I'm not too sure what that would cost to install. On my RX-7 (s), I've used the Centerforce Dual Friction clutches. I love them. They work really well and the pedal effort is easy. It's actually quite deceiving. Even the dual friction is light on the foot so you may as well go that route. Mine was actually lighter in pedal effort than my stock RX-7 clutch but it has twice the clamping power. Good stuff. There are many people that don't like Centerforce for some reason but I don't know why. ACT makes some really good clutches too. While you're in there, you may as well replace the flywheel too. It's a noticable mod.

The two Centerforce clutches I've installed on other cars tend to chatter a bit on engagement. I still like them though for the reasons rotarygod states.

Acclaim: if you don't mind me asking, how many miles did you get out of your stock clutch? Any track days in there or just lots of "spirited" driving?

The Centerforce do chatter a little bit but that's due to the weights that prodive the "center force". Those weights are obviously subject to inertia which helps the clutch clamp tighter the higher the rpms get. Without the chatter, you'd have no weights. That's a part of the clutch design.

Which is fine if you're willing to make the small compromise for the performance benefit. Like me, I'm guessing the OP probably won't mind. But if anyone's reading this looking for a good replacement for their daily driver, they may find a little chatter following every dead stop to be a little annoying after a while. I have no experience with this clutch on the RX-8 though so it may not even be an issue...

Well hopefully an average driver with no track days can see at least 50k miles before replacing the clutch. I want to replace the clucth and flywheel at the same time so I want to make sure I have teh cash for it since I have other mods I want to do first.
