The main part that fails, from what I'm noticing, are seals blowing. The best way the housing can go bad is if the engine is starved of oil, or if the apex seal blows, carving up the housing....Most cases, the housing should be OK to save.

Again, I'm not really a car guy, and going from no warranty at all to some warranty is better.........but how exactly would this cover me? What could go wrong with an Engine Core, Rotary Housing and Internal Parts, Internal Seals and Gaskets, and what would be covered??

Does this cover Apex seals, loss of compression, most engine failures, etc, etc?

Anything within the Rotor Housings is being covered. The Core is the entire engine block, if I'm not mistaken. So if you blow an Apex seal, and it scrapes your housing all to hell, and it was not do to your lack of putting oil in the car...chances are, it's all replaceable.

I'm looking forward to some of you getting a confirmation on my info. So far this is all I have to go on. So if this blows up, I'm appologizing in advance!

"To be" someone will address your question, I'm sure. I'm just not knowledgeable enough to give you a breakdown.

Does this go retro back to the people who already had to have an engine core replaced? Do they get reimbursed

Okay, Mazda just confirmed this in an email with me. This is so f@#$# awesome! I wonder if it is retroactive...? I think they are doing it now because they are seeing how these engines are failing with age, something they couldn't tell a couple of years ago when they did the 6/60 extension.

"Hello Alexandr,

Thanks for contacting Mazda.

The Rotary Engine Core Warranty has been extended to 96 months/80,000 miles- on your 2004 RX-8, VIN# JM1FEXXXXXXXx.

Again, thank you for contacting Mazda.

Regards,

Diana M.
Customer Assistance Specialist, E-Business "

She says 8/80, didn't the original post say 8/100? We need to investigate maybe...

Thanks fahrfegneugen. Mine was a copy paste and yes, it was 100K. Still needing a verification on the 100 before we can call this legit.

Ohh, sweet, you work at the dealer?, I thought you just found it somewhere. Nvm.

Well now it is double checked It was kinda too good to be true, lol. How should we verify the 100 thing?

^Your tranny is still covered though in that extra warranty, so that is good

Yeah I suppose

Still, kind of upsetting as the engine was the reason I got it. The higher the fail rate the happier I got knowing the extended warranty was worth it. Maybe I should start beating on the tranny to get my money's worth. Just kidding you corporate mazda spies

Guess time will tell. Someone will ferret it out. You confirmed the 80 now let's see who confirms the 100,000 if in fact it is true. Hell, even if it was 80, that would be good but 100... just damn!
