8 Love is Contagious
It really is. I have owned my 04 GT for about 2 months. I recently drove it home to north central Washington from Portland, OR. 8 hr drive. Now, I have put more than 5k on it in less than 2 months, but it gets looks, double takes, rubber necks everywhere. When I was visiting, I let me dad drive it. He has been a mechanic for 30+ years, and is very hesitant of new cars, especially "sports" cars, haha. He is honestly impressed with it. The ride, the sound, everything about it. Well, then my uncle got to town, and asked if he could drive it. 20 min later, he came back, and said it was pure love. He asked if he could take his friend out in it, so I said sure. An hour later, he gets back. Said his friend liked it. I talked to his friend the next day, and said "If youd like to drive it, let me know". He then told me "Well, your uncle let me. I love it. Its amazing". So my uncle let him drive it, ha. Then, my uncle said his friend would like to show his wife. Turns out she got to drive it also. They are now in the market for one. Then I met up with a friend from high school, and she was thinking about getting a 350z(which I love, and looked at). I let her take a ride, and she was set. She loves the look, the sound, the feel. Her parents saw it, and immediately fell in love as well.
Oh, then just yesterday, I stopped by the local mall, and an older fella came up as I got out, saying "beautiful car, whats it got under the hood?". I explained, and showed him about, revved it, let him sit in it(all the while he told his wife he would catch up). I told him to go to a dealer, drive one, he will probably drive away with one. He said he will.
I get compliments every day on this car. From all aspects of people. Gangsters to grandmas, and it never gets old. Mind you, this is a stock 04 Gt VR with exhaust. Its great. I'm in love.

I get carsick from not driving my 8, other cars just don't feel the same, these are nice expensive cars too.
The gate guard at my condo owns an FC and FD that don't run well and says he doesn't like the 8 but I think I will let him try mine.

I'm purchasing a Racing Beat Rev8 exhaust this week. I'm dying to get it installed.
Don't get me wrong, I like the sound of the stock exhaust. I'm just looking for a bit deeper sound, but something classy. The racing beat exhaust is perfect for me.
Also, I hate how small the exhaust tips are on the stock. Look like pea shooters sticking out the back of the 8. The 4" tips on the racing beat fills up the holes perfectly, like the exhaust should have been there from the beginning.

I've never had as many people ask about, rubberneck, just plain stare at - any other car before.
I get it every single day with the 8.
One guy almost went off the road about 3 months ago as he was trying to merge onto the highway from the on ramp, and he was staring at my car which was in the middle lane, and I saw him almost go into the culvert on the side of the road before he had to make a quick correction.
Whenever people ask me if what kind of motor it has, I tell them a 3 liter because when I say rotary, they just don't understand, and I don't have time to explain it.

Funny I got rx8 at Herzog Meier Beaverton. Too bad you cannot pump your own gas at night when the station is closed, no attendants to operate for you.
I cannot imagine a Portland so friendly as described in your stories. It was always "shut up and mind your own business" kind of deal for the 18 year I was there.
Some area, region, etc. I throw up little bit in my mouth every 5 rx8 I count. I am happy for you, you do not have to experience that.
