For 2009 RX8 owners......

I just got my 09 R3. I have one silly question. Is there 2 different colour on the dash.
I know the standard is white. And there is a dimmer switch. But is that it? I thought I seen a pic of the new dash with like light blue colour background in mazdausa.com

http://mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/displayP...ehicleCode=RX8

Anyone know anything about this? maybe only in the US or sth?

+1 for the dimmer. you can see it to the left of the wheel in the interior pics.
Click the image to open in full size.

when you have the headlights on slide that switch downward and it should click. after the click the lights in the gauges should have a blue tint. go back past the click and the white should be back.

Yup, 09's will only dim the gauges down, no color changes like the previous models...

'04 through '0? have two colors, but it's not like you can really switch. It's white with headlights off, red with headlights on, and the one dimmer control adjusts both.

The only switchable thing is that if headlights are on and you turn the dimmer all the way to bright, the dash lights will turn white. Full brightness, so it's not really a useful nighttime thing. Probably useful if you need to have your headlights on while driving in bright sunlight. Like a headlight-required construction zone or a funeral.

The gauges do have a dim, rather eerie, blue background light. I really like that. YMMV - I think there's even a DIY on how to rip those out.
