2008 40th Anniversary - What's it really worth?
So, I'm thinking about selling my 2008 40th Anniversary and getting something that's a little more grown up. It's completely stock w/ OEM spoiler, MT, 79000 miles, in great shape, just one accident (replaced rear bumper). The only aftermarket parts are Racing Beat oil cooler screens, iPod kit, interior super bright LED bulbs, and AutoExe front and rear strut tower bars.
Yeah, I've looked at KBB, but it isn't really the greatest source of "real world" car values.
Given the state of the car market (for 8's in particular), what do y'all think it's worth?

I would say in great condition, about $9,500.00, maybe $10,000.00 if someone just has to have a 40th. There is a 07' Touring with a new engine, new cat, and brand new tires for $9,000.00 and it is a stormy blue which is probably more rare than a 40th to be honest. I would not expect more than $10,000.00 tops though.

^I agree for the most part.
With those miles, yes.
I think I'm in the minority though, in that I value an 8 with an original engine more highly than those with a 'fresher' one.

It's got the original engine. Premixing since the day I got it. Pulls REAL strong. New batter, fresh plugs, coils, wires, and low miles on Michelin Pilot Super Sports.
Oh, the bumper-to-bumper warranty is still good for another 20000 miles, too. So that's gotta add a little value.

Yeah, I'd ask $10k imo.
Depends on how bad you want to sell it, & what you're willing to settle for.

Ok. Without the warranty and extras, it books at $11-12k. If I do decide to sell it, I'll have to see what the market will bear.
I love my 8 and I'm still not sure if I want to part with it, but there's something really seductive about 510hp that's hard to ignore.

D'oh, I forgot about the Jags.
I got to put the F-type through its paces a couple of years ago at an event. I assume your XFR shares its supercharged V8 engine with its 2 door brother...

The market value on RX8s is low so if you get $10,000 you are doing great. Your best selling point to someone not concerned that it is a rotary or not ( beyond the good condition of the car) would be that in its US configuration there were only 1000 40th anniversary editions made (more were made in European and Asian specs) but only 1000 in US specs (color and equipment). So exclusivity would be a buying point for any potential buyer.

Bumper to Bumper was 3 years 36,000. That's been over for all RX-8s, even 2011s (except maybe if there were 2011s sold in 2012)
Powertrain was 5 years 60,000 miles
Emissions is 8yr 80,000 on major components
Engine core is a component specific extension of the powertrain for the engine only to 8yr 100,000.
Clutch pedal is a component specific extension of the bumper to bumper for the pedal assembly only to 8yr 100,000

gwilliams6/RIWWP - To clarify, I have a third party bumper-to-bumper extended warranty from CarMax which is good for 5 years from the date of purchase or 100000 miles (whichever comes first). If needed, it can be used at any service center. There's a $50 deductible.

Ask $12k & settle for $10k?
510 HP sounds good, I like those Jags, but what is the cost of ownership?
That is a factor also.

My thoughts exactly. Other than the engine and tires, maintenance and parts for the 8 is inexpensive. I'm still trying to figure out what the Jag is going to cost in that regard. I know oil changes are steep.

Ok I stand corrected, yes the bumper to bumper is just 36,000miles .powertrain is 60,000 miles, but i thought perhaps you had some extended warranty that would cover you till 100,000,. i am happy for you that that was correct and you still have coverage. If that is transferable to a new owner, then that is surely a good selling point. Not many used cars still have any bumper to bumper coverage at that mileage. good news. Now you just have to decide if in your heart you can part with that sweet 40th anniversary edition for the new territory of owning and caring for a jag.
