04 8 vs 05 Vette...
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...67456543&q=rx8
Is the Vette driver just that much worse than the guy driving the 8?... or is it really that close on a twisty track?

You have to know how to handle a Vette with all that power.
You can easily spin it out, and yes the RX-8 handles that good.
No comment on which is a bettr cornering car.

Having both (04 RX8 and 06 Vette), the 8 is a better OVerall car. It will out handle the Vette around tight corners but that is it. The Vette will suck my 8 in the exhaust and spit it out perfomance wise..

stock to stock, the c5 out handles the 8 in almost every situation when pushed to the max. thing is, the 8 is easier to push then the c5 by leaps and bounds. also, the 8 feels fast. especially in short, side to side transitions. it feels like it carries a lot of speed into turns as well but many cars can match it in reality. especially a vette that weighs less, has more power/torque, a LOT more rubber, stiffer stock suspension, better stock tires, is lower, ... etc...
dont feel too bad, the 8 has better road feel

what I noticed was the driver of the 8 wasn't even pushing the car to it's limits in the corners. Hardly any correction on the steering, although that could be that he was taking the absolute perfect line each time. Also no idea how the vette was being driven. Still the 8 looked very smooth through the corners...very nice

These are both novice drivers and one of them is much worse than the other. Guess which one... With equal drivesr there's no way the RX-8 is keeping up with a C6 Vette. Hell, not even on an autox track is it happening.

Never driven a Corvette, but I recall reading that once it loses grip, it has a tendency to spin out quite easily. In other words, I'm inferring that it has great grip, but once it loses it, it requires above average skill to make the correction. Is this true V Vette? Have you pushed your Vette to the limit?

Guess the 8 is a much better car than people think. Much easier to drive fast than vette. Did you see how the vette got on the brakes early in the corners?
The equal driver argument is BS as there is no such thing as 2 drivers being identical. But given any 1 driver, I think that the handling characteristics of the 8 will make him seem that much better.
BTW, what was the third car on the road that was passed?

You can't compare the performance of two cars that are being driven by two novice drivers where one is obviously not as good as the other.
Example:
It's like putting me in a Carrera GT against Schumi in a kia sorento. Just because he beat me doesn't mean the Carrera GT is garbage.

Harder to drive vette fast. Easier to drive 8 fast. 'nuff said.
