Question '04 130k Used GT engine question

So I've seen that after 60k the '04 rx 8 engine was acting up and there was a recall. I bought my 8 with 128k miles on her. I'm guessing that the engine was recalled by the previous owner because the engines mileage is so high. Does anyone know how I can check to see if my engine is one of those recalled engines? Appreciate any help! Thanks!

So I called Mazda and apparently according to their records there wasn't an engine replacement. Oh my. I hope this doesn't mean I won't be able to drive my 8 for too much longer :/

Well you bought it with 130k miles on it so I am assuming you got a hell of a deal or had a compression test done and know the motor is healthy. Which one is it, how much did you pay for it?

Original engine on an 04 with 130k miles is very good, but the problem is already starting, and without any warranty on the engine whatsoever...sucks

If that is an original engine then you are on borrowed time. I have seen the originals fail anywhere between 80 and 150k, but most of them around 80-100. A couple weeks ago I took one apart that had 148k and that was the highest mileage I have personally seen on one of these original engines.

hmm Thanks for the input! I guess I'm going to be looking for other options now XD Is the transition to an rx7 engine an excruciating one? That would be an awesome venture lol
