I need Standalone help (REW swap)

Hey guys, not sure how to word this in the most understanding way.... but i'll take a crack at it.

I am in the process of the 13b rew swap into my S1. i have most all the parts, and the engine building should be done by mid July, however there is 1 last thing i have not ordered. i've done a ton of reading thru rx7club.com and here thru a few members builds of the REW and RE. I have no luck finding the answer.... so the question is. and the REW swap into the S1 chassis, i know adaptronics is the way to go, i just want to know if i can use this one
Plug-in Select Mazda Rx8 ECU | Full Function Engineering

or do i need to use the Universal one? (shown here)
Adaptronic e440 Universal Select | Full Function Engineering

Either will work...you will have to do re-wiring regardless......

What are you using for a trigger wheel? If you don't use the RX-8 wheel you will need to add it to get the power steering and tach to work in the dash.

Do you plan on using the DBW throttle...or go to a cable?

the first one is plug and play, if you know how to solder, then you buy the universal one and you have to buy rx8 harness, then you solder yourself..i hope it helps..

It's only plug and play for the RX-8 harness though. You wouold have to rewire the engine harness to fit the REW. You would also have to use the RX-8 trigger wheel and not the REW one

Another example...
REW has 4 injectors vs 6 for the renny.
But you can solve this problem with a aftermarket LIM and in doing so you get a extra inch of clearance from the firewall with said LIM.

These swaps have lots of little details that easily get overlooked.

Personally I would wire it with a flying lead type harness.....There is nothing to be gained from using a 15 year old harness except a lot of grief.

Have you decided what you are using for a front cover and trigger signal? There are a lot of choices :-)

I agree!

And yes I am going to use the renesis front cover and trigger wheel.

Did you do a REW swap? If so what did you do?

you can run anywhere from only 2, 4, or all 6 injectors even with the RX8 Select Adaptronic ecu. Same for the FD RX-7 Select ecu. It's all programmable. Just clarifying the statement for fact ual purposes, no suggestion intended towards the OP.

Try contacting Chris at Banzai Racing in Indiana.
After my mechanic blew and DESTROYED my REW swap, I went to e them Banzai to have them rebuild the motor and fix my previous mechanics mistakes.

This is the bracket he is fabricating for the tigger wheel.

Dietbudda, where have you been?!? I thought you totally gave up on the rx. Let me guess, your timing was wrong and blew the engine a couple of times? What stage is your car at now?

That is the prototype, the production piece is laser cut stainless that is a single piece without welds. It will be available on out site in a few weeks.

No never gave up on it, serious health issues, moved and changed mechanics, had him 'assist' in tuning it, he popped the motor Banzai had built.

It's back a Banzai now getting worked on and having all the issues my previous mechanic caused fixed, dude did a number on the car.

What were the things that he did wrong(mistakes)? It was pretty easy and straightforward.

Im resurrecting this thread to see if there are any updates on this bracket. Are they going to make it to production? Very interested.

It would be a lot more effective to contact a vendor directly rather than bump a thread on a forum and hope they see it

Well, I did that several months ago and it still isn't available. So I figured if I post something here, it would generate some interest and maybe this thing would go into production.
I'm not in a big hurry, I still have lots of other things to do. But if/when it does go up on their site, I'll be one of the first to buy it.
