Wanting to buy an 04' AT. Tips?
Hey guys, I am a potential owner of an 8. It's an 04 and the price is nice but I don't know if it's right for the mileage and age of the car. I have the carfax available. If you guys could give me a little heads up and/or tips before purchasing this vehicle, it would be great. Thanks! It's being sold by a big dealership. I am willing to take care of it. I am not a modder. I love the 8 the way it is and will keep it stock..
Here is the carfax: http://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory...FE17N640118188

Well FWIW the pre-06 AT rx8 are terrible. Good maintenance is almost irrelevant if the car isn't run hard enough occasionally to clear out the carbon. Almost every AT engine I know had to be replaced several time due to carbon issues. Price should be $7K or less, and it should have, or will need very soon a new engine.

Like everyone else said, get an 06+ they have the 6 speed transmissions rather than the 4 speeds in 04 and 05. That carfax seems strange to me, both owners owned the car for 3 years and 9 months?

Be forewarned that if you buy an RX8 with an Auto tranny, there is no miracle product to make it faster or more powerful. Seems like 2 more new people ask that question every week...
There is plenty of reading available on the subject.
But if an auto tranny is what you're looking for, enjoy it! (When you find a good deal)

I HATE SPEEDBUMPS!
Learn to drive a manual, and you'll go faster. Anyway, if you really wanted an auto, then to each, their own. Good luck with your search and whichever you decide to choose.
