Stealership CAI on new 2010?

I'm in California and found a great internet price for a new 2010 RX8 GT from a dealer far away. Called the dealership and they told me they will honor the special price but then when I called back to try to buy it, they told me the car has K&N CAI and tinted windows and will cost an additional $1000 in these accessories. I don't mind the tint, however, I'm concerned with the CAI.

I checked K&N and the Typhoon II is not even street legal in CA for 2010 models. I'm not sure if the dealer has seriously installed the K&N before selling the car or just trying to fork me over.

Won't the K&N void the factory warranty? How much to turn it back to stock?

Even with the $1000 in dealer installed accessories, it's still a lot cheaper than my local dealership.

Any suggestions? I really want this car.

Getting the blues from dealing with these dealers!

Thanks for the advice Charles. I hate these dealership sales guys. I think they were trying to make an extra buck since they had a lowest internet price. I doubt it's even installed yet. If they actually installed the Typhoon II on a CA car, they are stupid because the car is no longer street legal.

The breakdown for the dealer installed accessories was $300 window tint, $740 for K&N Intake.

$740 for the intake!? Did you ask them what kind of drugs they are smoking?

Edit: Don't even ask, because they ARE on drugs. The intake is garbage, and you can almost, if not buy 3 good intakes for that price

If that intake was coated in Gold, then MAYBE it's worth that price. D:

Thanks fellas, I'm thinking they haven't even installed the CAI yet but will do it before I try to buy it. I'm going to give them one last chance this weekend to make the sale without these games.

i doubt it but its worth it to ask. A ford dealership here does some crazy work to customize trucks and mustangs and sells them for much more.

Its not a used car.

I think I know which 2010 R3 u talking about. A dealership put a Mazdaspeed 3, Mazda 2 and a R3 at 7 Stock this year. the dealership is called River or something I can't remember.

they show those cars all the way at the end of the "road", those guys who have been there should know what Im talking about.

the R3 have K&N and tint pre-installed and has a marked up price of around 1K. I saw it and I was like what da f---?

I have nothing against K&N Typhoon II but for 700+ mark up you can tell them to remove it and reinstall the stock airbox. it takes 30 minutes tops to reinstall it. I did it at least 5 times already. I know its possible.

or tell them you're willing to pay both 400 bux. Tops. and you want the stock intake box back.

get the car and sell the intake out for 1-200 bux.

oh one more thing, correction, K&N Typhoon II is NOT a CAI. its short ram intake. and its 100% useless if you're using VFAD with it. you need something like RB duct or similar to get any performance.
