sales manager messing with me?!
i dont think the sales manager believes that im gettin an rx8.
since june of 2004 i have wanted an rx8. only prob was that i was 18 and still in high school! i went to tech school, got a job and mazda, started savin my money for the car. about a year ago i met with pat, a salesman from this mazda dealer and he not only offered a great deal on the car he also offered me a job as a tech at this dealer. i told him i was a year away from gettin one (this was feb of 2005) and that i wanted an 06. he was willing to wait.
this past sept i started workin for this mazda dealer and i met the sales manager, bruce, and i told him all about my plans for gettin the car. i said i wanted to be drivin it by march 25th 2006 and he and my salesman pat told me i need 3 months of time to wait after i order the car. so dec 25th was the day id order it, we r off the 25/24th so i said id order it dec 23rd. they were ok with that.
on dec 10th, i told bruce that i was just 13 days away from ordering and how excited i was! he told me he already put in all the orders for dec already and that id have to wait till JANUARY to order it.
dec 23rd i give pat my list of stuff i want on the car. bruce yet again tells me to wait till jan. the 3rd is the first day we will be open in jan. just yesterday i told him how excited i was to be ordering it this tuesday. HE TELLS ME I GOTTA WAIT TILL THE SECOND WEEK IN JAN TO ORDER IT!!!! i asked him if thatd be enuff time to have it in my driveway on march 25th he said NO, prolly mid-late APRIL!!!
if he knew this all along why didnt he say so in feb of 2005 when i said id be drivin it in march 25th 2006?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! why didnt he tell me early about the allocations so i could order it in "nov" so itd be here by macrh?!!!!! whats the problem here?!!!!!!!!!!!!!
why didnt he tell me this earlier? he told me stuff about mazda's "allocations" to dealers. that they only get a short timeframe each month to give orders out. well if dec 10th was AFTER allocations, was is jan 10 the FIRST day of allocations?
wouldnt it be consistent with each month?
is bruce just jerkin my chain? does he think im not really getting the car? is it bc im an employee so they wont make money off it?
i am only 20, so its not everyday that a kid walks in and buys one, but youd think if i was counting the days since JUNE 5TH 2004, that id be serious?!!!!!
the longer i wait for this thing the less i want it.
what do you all think? whats the deal with this? im gettin impatient and losing interest with this guy! and the car

Maybe it's got something to do with end of the year closing procedures. I know the beggining of the fiscal year for delearships is not a fun time of the year. I think you're best off asking him those questions.

I did a special order for my 06 on November 22 but my situation was a little different. They changed the specs on a car already alotted to my dealer, since it hadn't already gone into final build order (which it did withing 48 hours from that day, scheduled for building originally Nov. 1 but pushed back to Dec. 1, quoted production day as being Dec. 14). I actually started at MNAO to get this going, and they facilitated things with my dealer. MNAO told me approximately 8-10 weeks for my car which puts it at the end of January, which is what I wanted it since it is a birthday present to myself. However, if I did a special order it would be 3-4 months, because it would go to the end of the line, starting from scratch. My car was way up front in the building order so mine would be done and here quicker since it didn't have to start at the end of the line.
I don't know positively where my car is or when to expect it. MNAO said my car was early enough up in the building order that it is now on a boat on its way here as of this week. However, my dealer says he has no information for me since he has been unable to get updated information from Mazda on my vehicle or six others (not RX-8s) he is waiting for at this time, since Thanksgiving!!! He figures it is because so many people are off for the holidays that they haven't updated information in their system or anything and are just really scattered right now.
P.S. My dealer doesn't have specific days to submit his orders. He enters them in through his computer and they are done. When they get processed on the other end I have no idea.

hell I would goto another Mazda Dealer and get your car...it is all Mazda and if you are employee you should get service the same discount or whatever at any dealership...I would goto another one and get the car or order it... my .02 that guy sounds like a real dick...that would be another RX8 sold by his dealership...what a tool to not sell a car...
In sales we always say " The ones that have no clue about selling are the ones that manage"

If you're buying as an employee there's really no price negotiating, right? You could deal with another dealership by phone.
I've been getting service at Vincent Mazda in East Rochester and I talked to them about a Mazda5 for my wife. They seem like a good dealership. That'd be quite a trip for you to pick up the car, but I drove from Corning, NY to Baltimore, MD to pick up my car because the price, dealership and the car were right.

its all ok now tho, thanks everyone for the advice. i emailed the president of the company and within 1 hour he emiailed me back and told me hed starighten it all out the next day of work (today).
he called me into his office and he told me the deal with it. he said that the dealer ordered an 06 a while ago and that they could change the order to suit my wants. needless to say, i took it. its not only the first 2006 to be coming to the dealer. its one of the very first 2006's to come to the northeast usa!
we placed the order and itll be here in a few months.
