Question Repairs after warranty expires, looking at buying an 09

Looking at a 09 RX8 with 14K miles. How hard is it to find a garage that works on RX8's other than the dealership? Do most garages do repairs on them or is a specialized garage usually?

Outside of the engine internals, its just a normal car.
Everything can be worked on by a good mechanic.

Inside the engine, its either a dealer, or a rotary engine specialist that you will need.

Oh, and the drive train warranty is until 5 years, 60k miles, while the engine core is 8 years, 100k miles,

BC.

thanks for the info. read through the new owner thread and it has made me a bit gun shy on getting into an RX8, have a 323i BMW that I have done most of my own work on that is getting old that I wanted to trade in.
not sure how intense the maintenance/upkeep is on the RX8, reading the BMW boards makes them sound like a nightmare to maintain too. Course most folks don't get on the forum when things are working correctly.

My car works fine, and here I am.

Most of the major issues are '08 and earlier cars.
You have an engine warranty for 8 years/100k miles, as long as you can produce receipts for oil changes.

It doesn't get better than that for the automotive industry.

Everything else on the car is exactly the same as every other car on the market.
They have brakes and rotors that need to be replaced when they wear out.
Same goes for ball joints, wheel hubs, transmission fluid, etc, etc.

But, ultimately, if you're scared of maintaining a vehicle, you shouldn't own one.

It depends were you live at. Over here in Vegas, there is a shop that deals with only rotary engine cars, and its less than 30 minutes away from my place. Any problems that i cannot do, i just bring it to that shop...and its much cheaper than the dealership.
