Found a 2005 MT Shinka asking price is 15,995, was wondering what a good price to start bargaining at. Also i've read through the forums and i know to get a compression test, ask for the carfax and try to get the service records if available. Anything else i should look for or ask for? Also will the carfax show if the car has been to the dealer for the recalls?

No the Car Fax doesn't always show all the recalls. I looked at a car fax for my own car, and it didn't show the clutch pedal recall or the TPMS software recall.
It may be a long read, but it will save you(and us) some trouble in the long run.
Oh...........and you can call Mazda North America with the VIN and see if all recalls have been done. Click the search below for the number if not in the threads. I set it up for you!
Above all, please don’t make threads on subjects that have been covered a thousand times, use the search function on this site, or click this link that might work better for you -----> Search rx8club via Google

Thanks for the reply's now the fun will begin tomorrow when i go look at the car and deal with a salesman. I wish i could buy from someone off of here but i have no credit and my bank will only finance me with a dealer. I'll post what i find out and see if i get a deal or not
FWIW, I bought my 05 GT with 63k on it over 2 years ago for 13k out the door from a mazda dealership. They gave me the history they had on record and compression numbers. They had it listed at 15999. You should be able to do way better than their asking price. If not, walk. They have become much more affordable since i bought mine.

Well the that didn't go well, the dealer was pretty bad a little whole in the wall. The salesman kept steering me away from the carfax and they didn't want to budge on the price. Looked at a 2005 touring with 55k miles mt, we'll see how this goes.
Any dealer who would balk at a carfax is a dealer I would not do business with for any used car. He is likely hiding something from you about the history of this car. Find your RX8 elsewhere dude.
I've seen '05 Shinka's with half that mileage going for $13k USD.

there are a number of posts where people list what they paid for their car - Mine was an '07 GT with ~23k miles, and I got it for just a hair over 18k including tax, title, fees, etc. (the dealers asking price was 19k+Tax, title, fees, etc.)
$16k for an 05 with 63k miles on it is way too much in my opinion, shinka or not. $13k sounds a lot closer, so I'd start at by offering $12k and see where it goes from there.

That price is crazy. One of our local members just bought a clean 07' GT 6 speed with 30k on it for $14,000.00. Another, Cornholio135 paid like 13k last year for his 06' Shinka with 30k and a new engine in it and his Shinka is absolutely showroom perfect inside and out.
Well everything checked out on the 05 pearl white I paid 15k out the door lots of extras on the car have to pick up the receipts and service records today. Might have still paid a little too much for the car but this was a one owner car with all the receipts on everything he did and all the service records since he bought the car. Thanks for all the replies and input, i'll have to get pics up once i take some loving this car after driving it 2 days
