You are a hateful *** for starting that stuff again and for continually fighting with a 15 year old child. I tried to find a politically correct way of saying this. I just couldn't come up with one.
Porsche bastardized the line by producing a sport ute, but they make and have always made incredible vehicles. I love my Mazdas and have had some sporty fun in Japanese vehicles, but overall the Germans set the bar in the factors I find important for cars.

That is only in part true. It still does make a difference where a car is build. For example: DaimlerChrysler has problems getting the same quality in the US as they have in Germany, even with german engineers helping out in the US plants. Cars are build and designed for people, and they are different in every country and therefore you still see and feel the difference if you are for example driving a german or a japanese car.
Pretty soon though, you are right, technology is so good that most of the work is done by robots and it doesn't matter where the plant stands. But the R&D work will always be influenced by the individual countries.
