The last poll ignored Linux and seemed to focus more on hardware(?).
Vote for the OS you use on your home PC. I know from the bio/what do you do posts that we have a lot of IT people on this forum. I wonder if that will affect the numbers.
Here are the last published stats that I saw (clients only, not servers; sold in 2002):
Windows 93.2%
Mac 3.4%
Linux 2.8%

My PC is set up with dual boot SuSE Linux/Win XP. The XP is on there because it came on the computer. I already paid for the license and a lot of tech support won't even talk to you if you mention Linux.
My next computer will probably be straight Linux.

I use linux (redhat) on an IBM laptop with a vmware setup for windows 200 pro when I need it. However, I prefer feebsd. It just wasn't compatible with everything I need.
Windows here. I don't know how Mac and others survive at all to be honest. I think most people agree that there are a ton of things that suck about Windows. But as bad as Microsoft sucks no company can surpass it. That says a lot about the other operating systems trying to compete with Windows IMO. Dont' ge me wrong, I hate Windows and would gladly use something else from another company if they would step up to the plate and deliver.
*puts flame suit on* :p

We have MS as well at work.
My home machine XP Pro on a 3200+ (OC'd) Barton Crucial XMS memory ASUS MOBO Radeon 9800 GPU
You run all those on PC's? I have only heard of 2 of those (AIX and Solaris).
Yes, I am a nerd (but I do work in IT). Some people play video games on their PC but not me. I set up a SQL server and program on my Linux PC for fun.
I have to ask, what is feebsd?
Microsoft does not make the best OS. They control the market thru shear volume (like piston engines). Other people prefer OS's that are a little different and may require a little more effort (like rotaries).
Don't think that you have no choice other than Windows. Support for Mac and Linux is growing. Commercial distributions of Linux are now available that include tech support. I paid $80 for my copy of SuSE Linux 9.0 Pro. That included a printed User's Guide and Admin Guide (when was the last time that Microsoft included a printed manual?). It came with a web browser, e-mail package, photo editor, media player and Microsoft Office compatible office suite. On top of all of that, you can partition your hard drive and keep your existing Windows system as a security blanket.

AIX only runs on IBM PowerPC machines. IRIX runs on SGI workstations. I'm unfamiliar with ZOS. Solaris runs on Sun workstations & servers (though there is a version that runs on Intel PCs as well). Tru64 and VMS run on Alpha workstations (Alpha was DEC, which was purchased by Compaq, which is now part of HP).
FreeBSD is a free, user-supported OS (like Linux) that runs on PC hardware (and a couple of other platforms).

My main home workstation is a Sun Ultra 5 that runs Solaris.
I also have a laptop that dual boots Windows XP and Linux, and I just installed an alpha version of Windows Longhorn (the next Windows that will come out) for grins.
I also actually have a DEC machine in the house that runs Tru64 too, though I don't use it much. I also have an SGI Indy that runs IRIX though I don't use it much any more either.
Can you tell I'm a unix geek at heart?

Sorry, I didn't follow instructions -- I voted for Mac because I think it is the best, not because it is what I use (Windows). I'll try to read the instructions first next time.
