Poll: How many problems have you had with your RX-8?
After going over this board, I have determined that these problems seem to be the most COMMON amongst members:
Flooding
Difficult to start in cold weather
Oil Light coming on for no reason
Engine Check Light coming on
Dealers not wanting to cover warranty work
recall hassles
Poor gas milage UNDER 18 mpg after break-in
Of these, How many have you experienced? 0, 1, 2, or 3 or more?
(I've actually had 2, but my satisfaction is still sky high...)

To date, I haven't had any problems with mine. It starts just fine, I haven't had any flooding issues, never had a CEL light, no problems shifting, my AC works fine, and my gas mileage isn't any worse than everyone else's. I just passed 3,000, so that may be part of it, but so far, no issues. Thanks for asking. :D
I am going to guess that we aren't counting the mpg...
1) Brake lever broke in extreme cold -25*F or greater.
2) Door rattles and squeaks.
3) Center console cd storage lid replaced.
4) Door rattles and squeaks.
5) MPG dropping.
6) Door rattles and squeaks.
one probelm. cel for false failure of the evap test. fixed with pcm reflash. mpg has dropped recently but that is because the driver wont lift his right foot.
The only problem I had was operator induced which was a vibration in the steering wheel. It appeared after I installed my new tires. Turned out to be a wheel balance problem which was fixed by having the dealer do a FACTORY balance as per the directions in this thread

4. My dealer has never chearfully agreed to do warranty work... I was charged $80 for the repair referenced in No. 1, even though several other dealers have told me that they would have covered it and I had to complain to Mazda when the car flooded to get help... which was provided.

I've had the 8 since July '03; problems have been:
1) CEL that came on, stayed on, and went off by itself several days later
2) Dealer service departments staffed complete imbeciles;
3) Oil level light coming on at 75MPH for no reason (oil level is fine)
4) Less than expected gas mileage.
I'm still delighted with the car, though. For a brand-new-from-the-ground-up high-performance car, these types of first model year issues are minor (except for the dealers, but that's not the fault of the car itself).
Whoa... I thought my dog looked possessed, but that husky up above looks like it needs an exorcism.

low mpg, oil light FNAR, AT shift noise (unable to reproduce on demand) airbag harness recall not done yet (had to find out there was one from the forum, the dealer certainly wasn't going to tell me), overfilled oil from dealer, no valet keys yet- they're waiting on the blanks to come in....
