Extreme Modified Look. Think - the fast and the furious.
I've always had this dilemma - whether to prefer a clean/partially modified look or something extreme like you would see in the the Fast and the Furious. To be honest, I like the whole clean look. I'd define 'exreme' as well, an overly done body, insane spoiler, decals, vinyls, 19" rims... you name it.
Clean would be just simple mods like a GT package that you would find on the 8. Uninsane skirts, simple rims, very similiar to stock - you get what I mean. What do you think? - vote.

Clean in my book can include mods...MazdaSpeed front end, side skirts, etc. I don't mind subtle upgrades but wild front ends with 15 scoops and 21 foglights tend to look cheap (many are not) and unbecoming of most cars. Some aftermarket companies make nice aesthetic mods...some do not (think APC).

I voted for the extreme look but I enjoy a nice clean car though. I like the way a nice extreme car looks if it's done nicely and has the ***** to back it up. I don't enjoy seing extreme body work on cars that dosen't have the "umph" to back it up. There's a time and a place for it. I think it can make a car look extremly sexy. I don't particularily like it on American cars though, like neons, escorts, and the likes of those.

i acutally voted for the extreme because u didnt have an option to vote in between to vote for. but i like the looks for the modified cars.
and i gotta agree with Wurmfist, if you're going to make your car look like a beast, make sure it has the power to back it up. i've seen too many cars with huge body kits(too much), stickers, decals, panel paint designs, huge rims.... and end up beaten by something like a civic.

i like the clean look a lot, i look at the car as a work of art, and i want to respect the engineer's vision. If i need a car that looks like its out of the fast and the furious then maybe a lesser car is in order, but the RX-8 has a beauty and engineering marvel to it that begs to be enjoyed in full. I've got the appearance kit and spoiler so i guess my car is slightly modded, but i have to say its almost stock, and when i look in a polished truck infront of me, my car looks quite aggresive, quite beautiful and i wouldnt change it. The more expensive better engineered a car is, the cleaner the look should be. Mod a civic, or celica; never an rx8 porsche etc

My exterior "mods" are front and rear splash guards. Sets the car off nicely and more importantly to me they serve a purpose. Likewise my grilles over the front openings look good to me but are there for a reason. I like form to follow function though I'm not a fanatic about it. I do keep thinking about maybe doing the strakes.
The next "mod" I'd do if I had the guts would be to remove the orange-peel.

Anyways, cars CAN look clean with modifications. If they are done right of course.
if that's so.... then i take my vote bak for the extreme. i personally like abit of mods to the exterier, not too much. i just wanna be somewhat different from the guy next door if ya know what i mean. one of my friends also drive the exact same car, same colour, same red/black leather package.... i might even get a new body kit just to stand out :p

any factory appearance mods are ok. anything beyond that and it turns into a niche, mod-culture thing that the average person will find ugly (but you may love and if you do then that's all that matters).

what do you think. vote with your gut. what makes you go wow, damn i think that looks good.
...the "clean" look in the sense that I want my 8 to still look like an 8. Personally, I have a very hard time buying mods that do not come from the car's manufacturer, ie. MazdaSpeed, Ralli Art, STi, Nismo, TRD, etc.
Aside from the design of these products (which really compliment the original car rather than change it), they tend to have higher production values and tolerences. Also, you do not void your manufacturer warranties by going this route. A pricey way to go, I agree.
However, I will say that for some mods, there is no choice but to go to 3rd party vendors.
