Barely totaled 2004 Touring 6-speed for sale.

[Hey Folks - The RX-8 has gone to the auto graveyard and is no longer available - Not that anyone wanted it...Best!]

Hey Folks!

Totaled RX-8 for sale, see below for details

Long time owner (two 3rd gen rx-7s, and a 2004 rx-8, which I pre-ordered when it was announced :-) ) but haven't been on the forums for many years.

Monday I was in an accident in my 2004 rx-8 (oncoming driver didn't see me in the sun and turned left in front of me. I couldn't stop in time and hit her rear quarter panel with my right front bumper, arg) and today the insurance company totaled the car, too much to fix.

They are offering to either:

1. Write me a check for ~$10K (car, tax, registration fees) and they keep the car. I think this is a great offer, frankly. Does anyone disagree? Details on car below.
2. Write me a check for ~$7,700 and I keep the car.

Estimate to fix all the damage is $6,700, mostly damage to the front bumper and right front lights, and scrape on right rear quarter panel - No frame damage, but I don't have the heart to fix it. I'm going to get a Mazda CX-3 when it comes out in the summer and wait for the next RX.

THE QUESTION: Anyone want the car for $2,400 or more? If yes, it's all yours. Otherwise I'll take the $10K and run. I think someone could part it out for more than $2,400, but I don't have the time/energy.

More details: It's a 2004 Touring 6-speed, black ext, two tone black-brown (tan?) leather inside, 103K miles, except for the portions in the accident, overall good condition outside, some door dings. Good (not great) condition inside, except the passenger seat leather has a lot of scratches on the front of the seat, the rear seats are mint, driver's seat is not bad. CD player skips, radio/CD display occasionally does weird stuff, and other minor 10-year old car stuff. All recommended maintenance and recalls done, except the new airbag one. All the bells and whistles except no navigation and no 6-disk changer. Less than 5K on (4) 225/45ZR-18 Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires. Just replaced the oil pan, arg.

Happy to send both a) the repair quote from the estimator and b) the appraisal.

I'm in Seattle, the car is at a body shop in Lake City if you want to see it.

I need to let the insurance company know by Tuesday, so if no one commits to buying it before then I'll just let it go...

Message or call if interested.

Best!
Brian
