lol

2400 miles / 20mpg = 120 gallons x $3.50? (average?) = $420.

Tickets via Southwest Air - $308.

Anyone driving across the southwest want to join up? There will probably be 8 to 15 of us coming out of Phoenix and Tucson.

I'm trying to see if I can go. I'm waiting to see if my supervisors will let me off work so soon since I just got back from vacation. I do have the days though. Maybe I can be "sick" that weekend.........

Depending, though, it seems I may miss the "caravan" since my best bet would appear to be to start driving down there when I get off work on Thursday night (11:30 p.m.) so I would get there Friday afternoon (traffic nightmare, I know) and then to start driving back up Sunday morning or possibly Sunday evening so long as I would be back in time to be at work by 3 p.m. Monday. I could probably manage leaving Thursday morning, although that would require more creativity with my work schedule. Hmmmm........

Unfortunately, I have to rethink this whole scenario until I get another job again. I got laid off Monday night, conveniently a couple days before they were due to pay me my $1500 hiring bonus (if I would have been still employed on the 15th they owed it to me). This makes my budget a little tight. They got rid of the four newest outpatient employess, which just happened to include me since I just a tiny bit short of being there six months.

I do have an interview lined up already though for another job. Depending on what kind of shift I get I may have a different time frame altogether, if they let me go. I applied at the hospital closest to my house, too, since they finally had an opening (never have any other time I have looked). They said someone would probably contact me next week.

EDIT: My mom would be happier if I drove down with somebody, though, since she didn't think it was all that "safe" for me to drive all that way by myself.

We'll see how my interview goes. They called last evening (5:30) and wanted to set up an interview and testing but I don't have a confirmed day yet because the lady that actually did the testing part had gone home already. They are supposed to let me know today. If I get this job it will save me a bunch on gas money, nearly half, since I would only have to drive to Sunnyside instead of all the way downtown, so less stop and go involved. This job would only be about 20 miles instead of 35 miles one way.
