Unhappy Help Needed - HID Install

Hey! Hoping I can find one of you in the greater Seattle/Eastside area with experience replacing an HID bulb and ballast, which includes removing the front end. My passenger side headlight is out.

I have the parts, but I'm too chicken to do it alone. I can turn wrenches, I just need some guidance and moral support while I do it. I read the DIY, but still too

You have a replacement ballast and bulb or a whole new light?

Hi! I have a bulb and ballast. I actually have 2 bulbs, from someone on the forum who swapped his out for another color. Should I get another ballast and swap out everything while the front is off? I saw your DIY... I'm just nervous to do it by myself.

Cutting the housing to fish the wire thru is no big deal, but you will need a dremmel or body saw. Removing the front bumper and headlight is no biggie. But yeah, you may want some moral support

Why do you need a Dremel to replace a bulb?

Yeah it sucks to have to do to a perfect headlight. I did it once, the second time I just replaced both headlights with new ones.

Thank you SO much Easy! We ended up only having to replace the bulb, and since I bought a set from another forum member, we changed both sides. Woohoo! I haz lights again!

And thanks 9krpmrx8 for your help too!

yikes what an involved process to change the headlight! I suppose these lights don't fail very often?

I don't think so. My 8 has about 109K on it and this is the first HID bulb to wear out. I keep my headlights and fog lights on all the time. Fogs go out every couple of years or so.

Glad I could be of help. I must say, I really wasn't looking forward to having to cut a good housing to install a ballast. Good thing it was just a bulb.

It was a fairly simple job kompressorlogic Right tools. Piece of cake. And of course with eager assistance.
