Good Roads in Washington and BC

Noticed a thread asking about good roads for driving the RX-8 and thought this might be of interest. There are two excellent guides to Washington and British Columbia roads developed by a couple of motorcycle journalists from BC. They're respectively "Destination Highways in British Columbia" and "Destination Highways in Washington."

These aren't your usual guidebooks; they include maps and mile by mile ratings of just about every secondary highway and back road in BC and Washington. I've used both extensively in trips around Washington and BC on my bikes and am looking forward to taking many of the same trips in RoXy-8.

You can find copies in a number of motorcycle shops in the Puget Sound. (I-90 Motorsports in Issaquah stocks them.) If you have trouble finding the books or want to see what's included, try http://www.destinationhighways.com/.

For a more local orientation, there's also a very good guide to bicycle roads in the Puget Sound. Don't have the citation at hand, but it covers a number of back roads in the area and is generally available at REI and most large bookstores.

Chuckanut Drive..., it's along the sound. Starts in Bellingham and comes out just west of Burlington on Route 20. GREAT road, really twisty..., unless you get stuck behind a camper or something. Probably in that book. There's an oyster farm/resteraunt up there too.

I think the annual oyster run goes through there. Ends in Anacortes, last year we had over 6000 bikers in town. Man I miss WA roads, you lucky devils.
