Rotary Clubs?

Hey, anyone here a member of a rotary club. Or at least heard of a decent one in the Seattle-Tacoma area?

I'd like to see what the club seen is all about. I'd like to deal with other ADULTS, not kids that think they are the coolest thing around because they managed to get their hands on a rotary, and don't really even know what they've got.

If there is nothing out there right now, maybe a few of us can get something going!

Sorry you feel that way about us "kids". At the local rotary events its about 1/2 adults and 1/2 people in their teens and early 20's. We have get togethers and cruises maybe once a month or so, and then there are a couple of big events throughout the year, like the Apple Blossom Festival. There is the Rotary Pacific Northwest yahoo group, RPNW but most of their stuff is down in Portland. You can check out the Northwest section of RX7club.com. If you dont want to hang out with any kids than you might want to talk to someone else as I am only 19.

Icemastr,

I do not classify people by their age, but by thier actions. I am 25 myself. I know many 18-19 year olds that I concider adults because they act responsibly. I know 30-40 year olds that I concider kids because they are irresponsible and dangerous.

I do not agree with street racing, especially in residential areas. It is just plain dumb. To many risks should hopefully override anyone's pride about being challenged to a race. I also am not interested in the huge "farty" exhaust systems, or extravagent body kits. I prefer subtle appearance mods, and more importantly, well thought out performance modifications.

Please do not take offense to the kid remark. If you act like an adult, than I do not hold anyone's age against them.

Thanks for the info... you too zoom44.

I think I conduct myself professionally most of the time, however being as its on the Internet and I don't know you I didn't know exactly what you meant, no offense taken. Most of the people that I have met up here in the Northwest are pretty laid back and cool about their cars, they dont do dumb stuff, and they aren't out to race everybody. Because the RX-8 is a new car, its price, and it is being meant to attract more of a mid 20's and older market, most of the RX-8 owners are going to be more sophisticated, as you can tell by this forum. Almost everybody types in complete sentences and uses proper grammar, as compared to the sometimes childish actions that occur on other forums. Because of the age of the rotary, they are easily obtainable by younger people, and lower income people, a lot of people purchase them for "cheap" performance. As long as you have an opened mind attending rotary events, and have some respect for all the different generations of the rotary and their owners, you should find it quite enjoyable to see all the different ways the rotary engine comes, supercharged, turbocharged, twin turbo, naturally aspirated, race ported etc. I dont know about the RX-8's having their own events, but of course you guys are all welcomed into the RX-7 crowed with open arms whether you have owned a rotary before, or own other ones as well. If your at Mcchord Air Force base, I am not to far from you and we have quite a few get togethers not to far from Tacoma, I will be sure to post any gatherings we have. You might want to think about going to the Corksport BBQ on August 30th, you can head down there with me and a couple other guys if you want, but my car is awfully loud so your warned.

The Corksport BBQ will be a good place to meet a variety of rotary enthusiasts. It's a great way to network and meet others with the same interest. I am certainly going to be there!

I definetly wish I could go. Unfortunately, I was recently moved into a differant position at work that requires me to work even longer (13+) hours, supervising 5 times as many people, and now Saturdays too! And of course, all of this with no pay raise (thank you Air Force!). It's a temporary position and the 30th happens to be my last day. Gotta love that timing.

Ohh well, I am sure I'll get to meet you guys sometime soon.

Infact, I think I met you, 3rotor, at a little car show outside of GI Joes in Lakewood a couple months ago. My wife and I were in a blue VW Beetle GLX and had our two year old daughter with us. Ring a bell?

Thanks for all the info guys. I am looking forward to enjoying my RX-8 and the culture around it.

There is a rotary club in Eastern Washington, its called Inland Northwest Rotary, INWR, i think the website is http://www.inwr.org however it is small and meetings dont happen often since the members are very spread out from Spokane - Tri-Cities and Yakima. They would be very happy to have more members.
