Anyone done an engine cleaning before?
I have the marbles in a can / grinding at high RPM sound. First I am going to try cleaning the MAF, but if that doesn't work I think I will try doing an engine cleaning with Seafoam.
Has anyone around Seattle done this before? I read through the instructions and it looks like I can handle it, but it would be cool if someone that has done it before could help just so I don't make a mistake since there seems to be quite a few steps.
Also looking for other ideas I can do to solve the problem. I might try premixing and see what that does. Is there a recommendation for oil you can pick up locally to use for premixing?

There's an important bit of advice missing from the engine cleaning DIY's, or atleast, there used to be. Disconnect your cat before cleaning your engine. The engine cleaning has clogged more than one cat. Ask me how I know.

I think you are jumping to conclusions a bit here. The marbles in a can sound can be eliminated by installing a brass restrictor in one of the water lines off the water pump. This part actually came in the first few runs of the 04 RX-8 and was not installed on any of the later model years. I have a parts diagram that shows what I am talking about, but its on my computer at work. I can get it to you on Tuesday Quentin. But I promise you carbon build up, or the MAF has nothing to do with this problem. As you know, I also have an 06, and I have this problem too. I just haven't gotten around to fixing it, but it is very well documented on this site.
Second, for premix. Idemitsu premix is the way to go. You can get a 12QT pack of that stuff from Mazdatrix for less than 60 bucks if I remember right.
Also, your motor only has 6K on it right? There's no need for seafoam yet. Just get a good amount of redline runs in.

Absolutely right IMHO on all counts except that Mazdatrix rapes you on shipping!
Oh..................if it really is MIAC, then just go read through this thread.
The part numbers and diagram of where it goes is in there.
