LS2 Build

the engine runs off a gm ecu which is fully tunable with the software we have. if there is a third to turn the lights off then yes but im not familiar with rx8 tunning software as i am with other cars. the other thing you can also do is pull the bulbs or loop the circuit to make the lights go off. we did that with a g35 ls swap.

4:77 really isnt bad. its a 6spd chevy trans but the final drive gearing in the six speed would love the 4:77. nissan runs a 3:70 in the z and 6th gear baisically useless. i recommend changing gearing to 4:55 with ls swaps just to make up for the super tall 6th gear in the trans. plus 4:77 gears and 350+ lbs of tq!!! yea buddy thats one hell of a ride!!! just make sure your wearing a neck brace hahaha

F-body guys will go as far as 4:10, and if they do any mods they take it right back out because its too short. In a perfect world the lighter Rx8 will accelerate faster still.
My Z06 trans is geared slightly shorter than the standard T56 and with a 3:42 rear 1st is all but useless and 2nd requires pedaling with 420RW. And that is with 10.5" BFGs!
With a 4:77 a neck brace will definetly be needed because it will snap your head back for all of .75 seconds before you nail the rev limiter and kiss the windshield. You'll have to run out 5th in a 1/4 mile run.

Check out texas-speed.com its really not hard to do with a t56. We built the t56 with viper internalls and stock block with PRC 227 heads and there tsunami cam.

[QUOTE=Mawnee;4267579]yep, if people heard a stock ls2 in an Rx8 they'll go "wow cool ". If they hear a nasty cammed ls2 they'll go "WTF just happened?! "[/QUOTE
You're killing me, haha... It's what I intend to do.
I have to be realistic unfortunately. I've gotta get some coilovers first. The shocks need to be replaced and I'm tired of lowering springs causing my camber to eat through my tires.
The parts list keeps growing, but for now I'm trying to buy parts starting by importance (after the conversion, of course)
Think it's obvious I need bigger shoes, too.
