Help in San diego?
Anyone know anybody who can help me with an Ls1 swap in or near San Diego? I have savings set aside for this. I do not have a garage, tools, or sufficient knowledge to pull anything off like this on my own. I don't know where to go and I do not want to be ripped off.
Any reply to this thread is appreciated, thank you.

I've been calling a few shops up at "The Dyno Shop" in Santee is gave me an estimate of 12-15k for the total job, around 6-8k in labor. Holy ****. Can anyone tell me if this is reasonable?

Not sure about san diego, but cunningham motorsports and Mckinney motorsports in temecula are more than capable. Maybe hit up speedforce racing? Most tuner shops that are good with wiring and work on v8's can do the swap. Maybe call around to panda garage or pann auto and see if they can refer you to somewhere as well. Lastly there is goodwinracing in san diego and they specialize in mazda's. Maybe hit them up and see if they are up for the challenge.

Reasonable, maybe even low. Only shop I've contacted in the PDX area that I think is reputable ballparked it at $20K. I've seen stuff on the FB group for LS RX8's done for $8K or so, but that was doing all the labor themselves and cutting corners and using parts that I think are less than optimal. If you want it to work and drive like an OEM install, it's a punch in the dick, money-wise.

yeah man i gotta side with tylerdurden on this, 12K for everything installed from a reputable shop is a pretty good deal. I mean maybe the west coat is way cheaper in labor than over east where I am but a ls/t56 combo isnt cheap and neither are all the other parts you need. If you want an idea of what in my opinion is one of the best RX8 LS swaps check out what V8Roaders would charge for a turnkey build.
