Help me out guys, I cant make up my mind!
As some may know, I bought an 88 RX-7 with the intent on LS1/T56 swapping it from the very beginning. I was very excited at first but now I've been having second thoughts. The responsible thing to do is sell my 04 RX-8 to fund my FC build, however, I cant bring myself to selling my beloved RX-8! I roughly know all that's involved in the FC LS swap but I havent done much research into the RX-8 LS swap.
Help me out guys!
Will the RX-8s rear end hold the power? What's overall driveability like with the RX-8s stock gearing? Who's swap kit is better?
Thanks for your time!

Doing some quick math on the T56 and a 4.44 FD looks bad as far as usability goes. I did this math a while ago, but 1st topped out before 30, 2nd around 50, 3rd, around 70. If you want to check yourself (who knows how good my memory is), there are online calculator where you can enter the gear ratios and final drive and the redline and you can see for yourself. It'd be fast, but I don't think it'd suit the nature of an LS1 very well. You could do it for a while, but I wouldn't consider it a permanent solution. If it's a cost issue, swap the motor/trans now and work out the bugs while you save for the Getrag/8.8 rear end. V8roadsters is bar none the best quality. I just wish they updated their damn website more often. I think this is a swap with the stock rear end, sounds like it runs out of gear pretty quick:

It's all up in there and it runs like a champ, but the front and rear suspension are still on the floor and I'm concerned my rad might be too tall @ 19 inches. There's very little work left to get it on the road, I just don't get a lot of time to work on it. Another guy on here has a v8r build thread you should check out.
